Types of Braces

Thanks to today’s advances in orthodontic technology, Sacramone Orthodontics can provide our patients with more options when it comes to wearing braces than ever before. While traditional metal braces are still widely used, clear braces are very popular with teens and adults who are self conscious about wearing braces, along with Invisalign removable aligners, the “braceless” alternative to straight teeth. Dr. Frederick J. Sacramone Jr. will help you determine which treatment option is right for you.

Please see below or ask us to learn more about the types of braces we offer at our office. You need to speak with your orthodontist to determine which appliance is right for you.

Metal Braces

Metal braces have become much smaller since the earlier days of orthodontics. The braces used at Sacramone Orthodontics are much easier to keep clean and minimize patient discomfort from irritation. The “space-age” wires placed in the braces allow for easier alignment of crowded teeth with less discomfort.

Colored Braces

For those patients who like to fashionably show off their braces, we offer a full color selection at no additional cost. You can choose colors to show your school spirit or support your favorite sports team, to celebrate an upcoming holiday, or just pick any artistic creation of your choice to show off your beautiful smile. Your colors can be changed at every adjustment visit so you’re not stuck wearing the same color for the entire treatment.

Ceramic Braces

For those patients who prefer their braces to be less conspicuous, we offer ceramic braces. The ceramic braces are made of a glass type material and do not stain like the plastic braces of past years. Most patients can be treated just as well with the ceramic braces as they can with the metal braces. However, because of their composition, placing clear braces on the lower teeth can wear the enamel of the upper teeth when biting. For this reason, we usually place ceramic braces on the upper front teeth only.

Invisible Braces

Clear appliances such as Invisalign use a series of invisible, removable, and comfortable aligners to straighten your teeth. You can eat and drink what you want while in treatment, plus brushing and flossing are more easily accomplished than with braces. The aligners have no metal to cause mouth abrasions during treatment. Though many patients have been thrilled with their aligner results, not all bite types can be corrected with this form of treatment. A FREE initial consultation with Dr Sacramone will determine if you are a candidate for clear aligner treatment.

Invisible Braces (Lingual Braces)

Lingual braces are the invisible alternative for patients who don’t want to wear braces or when Invisalign is not an option. Placed behind your teeth, no one will know that you are wearing braces unless you tell them. These unique braces are created using state-of-the-art technology and are 100% customized to the shape of your teeth and dental situation. Lingual braces have the unique prescription that Dr. Frederick J. Sacramone Jr. creates for you, built-in to ensure you get the results that you want. With lingual braces you get efficient, effective tooth movement with great aesthetics.
