Initial Visit
Do you charge for an initial visit?
No, we do not charge for an initial visit. As a courtesy to you and your general dentist, we’re happy to evaluate your orthodontic needs at no cost.
At what age do you start seeing patients?
We follow the recommendation of the American Association of Orthodontists and suggest scheduling an initial evaluation by age 7.
Why do you evaluate patients so young during an early braces for kids visit?
Early evaluations are mainly for observation and education—not immediate treatment. At this stage, we can identify any potential concerns and determine if early intervention is needed. In most cases, we simply monitor growth and development while providing guidance on habits or health issues.
How long will the first visit take, and is the orthodontist consultation included?
The first visit typically lasts 5-15 minutes, but can last anywhere between 30 minutes and 1 hour, depending on how ready the patient is for treatment. We may just do a visual exam and explain the situation, or we may suggest one or more X-rays and complete diagnostics, including impressions of the teeth with photographs to document the current position.
Do you take patients transferring from out of town?
No, we do not.
Do you have any adult braces patients in your practice?
Absolutely! More adults than ever are choosing orthodontic treatment. With today’s discreet options, getting a straight smile is more convenient and comfortable than ever.
What is the difference between an orthodontist and a dentist, and who should I see for teeth alignment?
An orthodontist is a dentist who has completed at least two additional years of specialized training in tooth and jaw alignment. For orthodontic needs like braces or Invisalign, it’s best to see a certified orthodontist.
Can I make all my appointments in the afternoon after school and late in the day?
We do our best to accommodate busy family schedules. Some procedures must be done between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., but we reserve early morning and late afternoon slots for shorter appointments whenever possible.
Do you see patients for emergencies?
Yes. If you’re experiencing an orthodontic emergency, please call us. Emergency contact information is available on our website and voicemail.
Financial and Insurance
Can we make payments for affordable braces and Invisalign over time?
Yes. We’re happy to work with your budget by offering flexible payment plans that align with your treatment schedule—whether or not you have insurance.
How do you handle insurance, especially when planning for the cost of braces or Invisalign cost?
Once we verify your orthodontic coverage, we’ll bill your insurance provider directly. If your policy changes or ends, you’ll still be responsible for the agreed-upon treatment fee.
Do you accept credit card payments?
Yes, we accept Visa and MasterCard.
Do you have direct debit?
No, we do not.
Do you charge interest?
No. We offer interest-free financing to help make treatment affordable.
Do you give family orthodontist discounts for multiple family members?
Yes, we offer discounts for multiple family members undergoing treatment.
Types of Orthodontic Treatment
What is Phase 1 Treatment, and how does it help with early pediatric orthodontist needs?
Phase 1 treatment begins before all permanent teeth have erupted. It helps address significant issues like jaw misalignment or crossbites early, which can be more difficult to correct later. This stage sets the foundation for a healthier smile and may still be followed by Phase 2 treatment later on.
What is Phase 2 Treatment, and how does it compare to braces vs Invisalign for teens?
Phase 2 begins once all permanent teeth have come in. This is the comprehensive alignment phase, lasting about 18–24 months. Whether using braces or Invisalign, this stage fine-tunes alignment, closes gaps, and ensures long-term stability.
How do I know two-phase treatment is the right teeth straightening for teenagers option?
Every smile is unique. A two-phase approach may be recommended based on your child’s specific needs. A consultation and diagnostic records allow us to determine the best course of action.
Moving of Teeth (Mechanics)
I need to be pre-medicated for the dentist. Do I need to take my medicine for the orthodontist?
Yes, but only for certain procedures. Please check with your physician or orthodontist for guidance before your visit.
How long do braces take, and what is the typical orthodontic treatment timeline?
Most patients complete treatment in about two years, though timelines vary depending on individual needs.
How do teeth straightening options actually move your teeth into place?
Braces and aligners apply gentle, controlled force to shift teeth into better positions. Your orthodontist uses advanced tools and training to guide this process safely and effectively.
Do you use recycled braces?
No. All orthodontic appliances used are brand new for each patient.

Wisdom Teeth (Third Molars)
Do wisdom teeth cause teeth to get crooked?
No, current research does not support that wisdom teeth directly cause crowding.
Why do wisdom teeth need to be removed before or after jaw alignment treatment?
While they may not cause crowding, impacted wisdom teeth can lead to infections or gum issues. It’s often best to plan for removal proactively.
When is a good time to have wisdom teeth removed?
Most oral surgeons recommend removing wisdom teeth once about two-thirds of the roots have developed, usually between ages 16 and 18.
Temporomandibular Disorders (TMJ)
Can braces or orthodontic treatment treat or cause TMJ problems?
Current evidence does not link orthodontic treatment to TMJ disorders. These issues can occur independently of your bite or alignment.
Health Impact
What are the health benefits of wearing clear braces for adults or teens?
Orthodontic treatment can improve bite function, oral hygiene, facial balance, and overall confidence. Straighter teeth are easier to clean and can support better long-term dental health.
How do enlarged adenoids and allergies affect braces?
Chronic mouth breathing from enlarged adenoids or allergies may affect jaw development, contributing to crowding or narrow arches.
How does a tongue thrust or low tongue posture affect braces?
Improper tongue posture can place pressure on the front teeth, leading to spacing and protrusion. Identifying and managing this habit can improve treatment results.
